So you own a licensed FN Five-seveN or PS90 in Europe and need bulk training ammunition from the manufacturer who invented the calibre. From the originators of the 5.7 calibre, the FN GUNR SS201 is the training and plinking round that puts new targets in reach for 5.7 owners. 40-grain full metal jacket bullet, boxer primer, brass case. Cycles reliably across all 5.7×28mm firearms. Comparable felt recoil, velocity and accuracy of SS197SR. 1,700 fps and 257 ft-lbs from the Five-seveN pistol. 2,040 fps and 370 ft-lbs from the PS90 bullpup. 500 rounds. Ships to licensed 5.7×28mm owners across Europe — NOT for UK market.

The FN GUNR SS201 5.7x28MM 40gr FMJ Ammo, 500rd was standardised by NATO in 2020 — used by 40+ nations for over three decades. First, extremely low felt recoil makes the SS201 ideal for extended training sessions — less fatigue, more rounds, better technique development. Next, the brass case is boxer-primed — reloadable for European hand-loaders who want to stretch value from the 500-round purchase. Finally, 500 rounds from one production lot means consistent velocity and point of impact across your entire training session.

Important legal note: The FN Five-seveN pistol is Section 5 prohibited in the UK. The FN PS90 is also restricted in the UK. This ammunition has no legal civilian application in the UK market. This listing is exclusively for licensed 5.7×28mm owners in European jurisdictions where these platforms are legally permitted. Proof of appropriate licensing required before dispatch.

Does This FN GUNR SS201 5.7x28MM 40gr FMJ Ammo, 500rd Require a Licence in Europe?

Yes — centrefire pistol/PDW ammunition requires appropriate licensing. So 5.7×28mm is a centrefire cartridge requiring the same licensing as the platform it’s fired from. Also, the Five-seveN pistol requires pistol licensing in Czech Republic and Switzerland; the PS90 requires PDW/carbine licensing depending on jurisdiction. Therefore, proof of appropriate licensing for your specific platform and country is required before eurogunandpartshub.com dispatches this ammunition.

What Is the Difference Between SS201 GUNR and SS197SR?

The FN GUNR SS201 5.7x28MM 40gr FMJ Ammo, 500rd is FN’s training and plinking round — comparable felt recoil, velocity and accuracy to the SS197SR but at a more accessible price point for volume training. So the SS197SR uses a 40-grain Hornady V-MAX polymer-tipped projectile — the sporting and hunting load. Also, the SS201 GUNR uses a standard FMJ bullet — the correct choice for volume range training where terminal performance is irrelevant. Therefore, use SS201 GUNR for training and SS197SR or SS200 DFNS for hunting or personal defence applications where terminal performance matters.

Why Is Velocity So Different Between Five-seveN and PS90?

Barrel length — the PS90’s longer barrel extracts significantly more velocity from the same cartridge. So the Five-seveN gives 1,700 fps from its 4.8″ barrel; the PS90 bullpup gives 2,040 fps from its 16″ barrel. Also, the 340 fps velocity advantage from the PS90 translates directly into flatter trajectory and more energy retention at range — the same ammunition performs differently in each platform. Therefore, PS90 owners shooting at distance should use their platform’s ballistics specifically when zeroing and calculating holdover.

Is the SS201 GUNR Armour Piercing?

No — FMJ civilian sporting load only. So the 5.7×28mm calibre has a complex history because the military SS190 armour-piercing load raised concerns when it was briefly available on the civilian market in the US. Also, the SS201 GUNR is FN’s purpose-designed civilian training load — standard copper-jacketed lead core FMJ with no armour-piercing capability. Therefore, the SS201 is the correct legal civilian load in European jurisdictions that permit 5.7×28mm ownership — not the restricted SS190 military AP load.

Who Is This FN GUNR SS201 5.7x28MM 40gr FMJ Ammo, 500rd Best For in the European Market?

This FN GUNR SS201 5.7x28MM 40gr FMJ Ammo, 500rd   fits licensed Five-seveN owners in Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Belgium and licensed PS90 owners in permissive European jurisdictions who want bulk training ammunition from the original manufacturer at competitive pricing. So 5.7×28mm has been in military and law enforcement service with 40+ nations since 1990 and civilian ownership of Five-seveN and PS90 platforms is an established niche in permissive European markets. Also, at £0.60 per round for 500 rounds of factory FN ammunition, this is competitive pricing for a cartridge with limited aftermarket ammunition options in Europe. Therefore, bulk SS201 GUNR is the correct training purchase for any licensed European 5.7×28mm owner who shoots at volume.
